Welcome to Roam + Explore!

This is my little place on the interweb – Roam + Explore. This site came about after a 10-year hiatus from blogging, but with a renewed passion for sharing stories, advice and itineraries for your next trip! R + E focuses on experiential travel.

Wait, what is that?

According to everyone’s favourite source, Wikipedia: Experiential travel, also known as immersion travel, is a form of tourism in which people focus on experiencing a country, city or particular place by connecting to its history, people and culture.

I am of the mindset that when you visit a place, you need to immerse yourself by learning the language, eating the food, learning the history and engaging in activities that are native to the home country. Once I figured out what this mentality was, I subscribed and completely bought in.

I try to focus more on experiences rather than just places to visit. Even though I do have a bucket-list, it’s more important to me to live a place than just check it off a list. I know many people think the same way, so I wanted to create a space to share ideas, advice and itineraries to immerse yourself in a destination. From walking tours, activity recommendations, advice and stories from my firsthand accounts, hopefully you will be inspired to Roam + Explore the beautiful world around us.
